New Mendelssohn House
Since 2014, the new, extended Mendelssohn House is open in Leipzig with a completely new floor. It’s the world’s only Mendelssohn museum. New interactive features include an audio-video library, a so-called "Effektorium" and a rotating paternoster cabinet.
Leipzig Festival of Lights
In 2015, Germany is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the German Reunification
. The highlight of the celebrations in Leipzig will be the Festival of Lights on 9 October. "Liberty - Equality - Fraternity?" is the motto of this year - critically backlighting this statement and, thus, punctuated by a question mark.
Throughout the evening, the visitors of the Festival of Lights are, as in previous years, invited to form an illuminated "89" with thousands of candles.
